Stepping into Bar Restaurante Manolo feels like entering a quiet corner of Orihuela where time slows down just enough to savor the everyday pleasures of good company and honest food. Nestled on a tranquil square, the pace here is unhurried - perfect for those moments when you want to linger over a glass of wine and the gentle hum of local life. The atmosphere carries a relaxed familiarity, as if you’re joining old friends around a worn wooden table shared countless times before.

The interior reflects its neighborhood roots with cozy, traditional touches that invite comfort rather than show. It’s the kind of place where the simplicity of the surroundings amplifies the warmth of the welcome and the thoughtfulness in the kitchen. Whether you settle outdoors in the calm of the street or indoors among rustic details, there’s a sense of peaceful retreat from the busier parts of town.

Bar Restaurante Manolo’s menu is a canvas of authentic Spanish home cooking, where vibrant flavors come together with care and a subtle nod to tradition. Tapas here invite sharing and discovery - imagine savoring bite-sized delights like tender calamari or freshly grilled gambas, each dish shaped by local ingredients and familiar touches that speak of family tables. Plates arrive in generous portions, encouraging leisurely tasting and easy conversation.

The spirit of the place extends beyond the food. Service feels personal and attentive, even when language differences arise, adding a gentle human dimension to the visit. Visitors often find themselves drawn to the straightforward, unpretentious vibe and the sense that each visit is a relaxed, local experience rather than a polished performance. For those looking to explore Orihuela’s culinary rhythm at a friendly, neighborhood restaurant, Bar Restaurante Manolo quietly holds its own as a welcoming place to savor true Spanish flavors and the slow, joyful art of dining.

Dropped in for a late lunch. Ordered prawn croquettes, squid analusian, prawn and zucchini croquettes and chicken skewers. Really tasty. We were the only ones there and it was peaceful to sit outside. QR code show menu in English so you understand it. Waiter was nice even with language barrier

We loved it here. Upon arrival, it doesn’t look 4/5 star so this could be improved. It does look quite dodgy, but this shouldn’t be off putting because the food and staff are great. They have a set menu which you can choose from or a tapas menu and there is a lot of choose from. I am gluten free but not celiac and I didn’t feel very confident so just got a salad, so most likely not for anyone with allergies but feel free to ask! However the food itself was lovely. The salads were fresh, the service was quick and it is right on the river. The inside looked lovely too but tables were reserved… the tapas was gorgeous, even squid and chicken etc… was cooked perfectly and was only €3-4 each. So you could order quite a mixture between a few. We ordered like 9 dishes between 3 (including 2 bigger salads) and another ordered burger and chips which was perfect. The dishes are fairly priced and quite cheap but delicious!

Ordered steak between 2 and it was perfect, came with proper chips. Kitchen doesn't open until 8pm though. It was quiet but we were there out of season.

Delicious food and great atmosphere! Authentic Spanish home-style cooking, made with heart. The portions are huge - the chicken Caesar salad can easily feed two, and the grilled squid was fresh and perfectly cooked. The Verdejo wine by the glass was excellent. The place has a cozy, traditional interior - quiet and welcoming, you feel like you’re visiting old friends. Fair prices, fast service, and a warm, friendly vibe. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy genuine, hearty food!

Lovely spot for lunch. We had tuna steak with chips and beef steak with chips and a beer. £40euros for 2. Reasonably priced. Food tasted great. Service was very good considering they were full. Its in a central part of Orihuela by the University and Wall museum. Worth a visit.

Please note, I am NOT a local guide. I am a traveler who was in Orhiuela just to see the town. After a long day walking, finding a classic Bar Restaurante was a welcome sight. The menu del dia is a blessing to the food world. I know if you live in Spain, it is a dependable way to affordably eat. For the traveler, when you get away from the tourist districts, it is a way to get piece of the country without all the homogenization of international cuisine. Mandolo did not disappoint, We had a nice vegetable soup (I think with squash or pumpkin base) Ensalada Murciana (which was new to me and I loved), a braised beef, and roast chicken dish. With water, and wine, it was wonderful. A great value and a great experience.
